We Do It on a Large Scale (play video)
Through our project, we want to point out the true cost of discarded waste—the cost that OUR NATURE MUST PAY, the cost that we—humanity—should be paying. We decided to use SMALL happenings to start a LARGE chain reaction.
I. waste collection—under Urpín in Banská Bystrica
➔beautiful nature regularly contaminated with waste
➔near the railway station—many potential people responding to our act
➔a long-standing waste problem that bothers the wider public
The outcome of each happening (6 in total) will be an imitation of a “receipt”
- price for the “goods” = carbon footprint
- our messages to the world encoded using a numerical cipher
- the QR code will direct you to our IG account
Through coding, we turned words into numbers. In this way, we express their “invisibility” and the need to uncover and get to know them. The sentences have a mixed-up word order, pointing to blindness to the fact that what matters most is our personal attitude and decision. They are arranged back into word order alphabetically (X, Y, Z / A, B, C, D, E).
The project is not “just” about active cleaning, documenting it, etc., but also about expressing our opinion through art and thereby making some use of waste. While improving and learning various artistic skills, we want to share with you different perspectives, questions, thoughts, or at least remind you of certain events or facts that we consider important factors in environmentalism and ecology, but also in simple humanity.
SOCIAL NETWORK AS A MEDIUM – a rapidly shareable source of information or records of our actions, and also the greatest shaper of this era. The most popular social network – Instagram – Butterfly_effect.sk (link) we are trying to use IG to expand our activity, monitor feedback, and communicate with the viewer also through contemporary technologies

By calculating the carbon footprint, we want to point out that often we do not even realize what the disposal of, for example, a beer can costs our nature.
Public acts combined with art
- developing environmental and pro-ecological thinking through happenings, meetings, art, the spread of information, and ordinary small deeds
- spreading current as well as unpopular events and knowledge through IG and in other ways too
- monitoring the development of society as a reaction to our actions
- bringing solidarity into the community through the active inclusion of society in our happenings
